Okay World, it’s us — Zach and Mom. You know, the two people currently driving around with no plan, Google Maps, and a suspicious amount of gas station snacks. We figured since this is our very first post, we might as well introduce ourselves properly and lay down some ground rules for this relationship.
Here’s the deal, World: we are not here for the boring stuff. We do not want your average rest stops. We do not want your “pretty standard” scenic overlooks. We have seen a Cracker Barrel. We know what a gift shop looks like. That’s not why we’re here.
What we WANT is the weird stuff. The stuff that makes you pull the car over, squint at a hand-painted sign, and go “wait, we HAVE to see that.” We’re talking:
- The world’s largest [anything, we’re not picky];
- A diner with a menu item so strange the waitress warns you before you order it (but Zach will have to eat it because Mom won’t);
- A town with a legend nobody can fully explain;
- A roadside attraction built by one guy with way too much free time and a welding torch;
- Anything with a “you won’t believe this exists” energy.
So World, here’s our official ask: show us what you’ve got. Every weird museum, every questionable record holder, every “local legend” gas station attendant with a story to tell — we’re driving right past your neighborhood, so now’s your chance.
We have a full tank of gas and the next ten days free. All we need now is you, World, to bring the good stuff.
Don’t let us down.
— Zach & Mom
